It’s Time for Companies to Embrace Remote Work

In the past, it made a lot of sense for people to go into the office to work because everything they needed to get the job done was available in the office. Things like desktop computers, printers, and fax machines were mostly only available in the office, making the office important for most businesses.

These days, technological advancements have made going to the office an old tradition that doesn’t make a lot of financial sense for businesses because most of the work can now be done remotely.

Every important piece of information that is required to do your job in the office can be accessed with a laptop and an internet connection, allowing you to get your work done away from the office. Since most jobs these days can be done remotely, it makes a lot of financial sense for businesses to encourage working remotely because it can save them a lot of money spent on overhead costs.

The rent the company pays for the space they use can be spent on something else, as can the money they spend on equipment like computers, printing machines and other things found in the office.

Despite the fact that a lot of businesses can save money by embracing working remotely, a lot of businesses are reluctant to make the switch.

One of the biggest fears these companies have is that their employees won’t be as productive if they are working remotely because there are a lot of things that can distract them when they are not in the office.

However, research has shown that employees that work remotely are 13.5 percent more productive than employees who work in the office.

One of the reasons people who work remotely are more productive than people who work in the office is remote work allows the employee to focus on the work they are doing because they don’t have to deal with the distractions in the office like colleagues who want to chat, birthday parties that happen a few times a month, and the countless meetings that take place in the office.

The good news is that even though there are still a lot of companies that are reluctant to embrace working remotely, a lot of businesses have realized it has a lot of benefits and have started to implement it in their businesses. According to industry projections, half of the workforce in the United Kingdom will be working remotely by 2020.
