5 Best Games to Play on Your iPad in 2017

The iPad is a fantastic device for gaming, especially the iPad Pro 2017 with its insanely powerful A10X Fusion chip and that gorgeous 120fps display. Unfortunately, the App Store doesn’t have enough good games on it for serious gamers to consider the iPad as a handheld console, which it has every potential to become. Nevertheless, there were some good paid and free online games released this year and if you have an iPad, it’s definitely worth checking them out.

Monument Valley 2

In case you thought Monument Valley was good, check out Monument Valley 2, which all critics unanimously consider to be an improvement over the original. It retains the same puzzle formula but adds more to it. You can now control a second character and the visuals are even more colorful and pleasing to the eye than before.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier

Telltale Games have now entered the world of smartphones and The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is quite simply one of the best adventure games released in 2017. If you have not tried any of the Telltale adventure games with their choice and consequence scenarios yet, you need to play this one.

Super Mario Run

There have been clones populating the App Store for a while now, but nothing official from Nintendo was ever released for the mobile platform before Super Mario Run in early 2017. While there are limitations to the game, Super Mario Run looks gorgeous, plays flawlessly on all modern iOS devices, and it’s one of those rare games where you pay only once to unlock everything.

Flipping Legend

Flipping Legends is that one game which is making waves by introducing RPG elements to an infinite runner. In a genre dominated by established titles like Subway Surfers, Temple Run, and populated by hundreds of other titles that utilize the same formula, Flipping Legend is a breath of fresh air which is extremely fun to play and the unique mechanics and gameplay elements feel great. This one is a must download, especially since it’s free to play.

Hidden Folks

Hidden Folks is one of those games that are just perfect for the iPad because of the bigger displays. You can also play it on your iPhone, but finding the hidden objects will become particularly hard on a tiny screen. Do not be fooled by the hand-drawn pencil-sketch art-style because it’s a fantastic, monochromatic world that feels alive as you search for objects or “folks” hidden in plain sight.

While these five are some of the best games that have been released in 2017 for the iOS so far, they are not the only ones. Honorable mentions include Galaxy of Pen & Paper, Wonderputt, Slayaway Camp and FRAMED 2. However, if you don’t have an iPad or if you simply prefer the convenience of playing with a mouse and a keyboard, know that you don’t really need an iPad to play free online games! You can do so right from your computer’s browser at Bigsamo Games where they have a pretty impressive list of titles.
